Turk Telekom 92-77 Maxima Roma: EuroCup Basketball Match Report

Turk Telekom produced a commanding home performance in EuroCup Basketball on October 7, 2026, defeating Maxima Roma 92-77 behind a balanced scoring attack and a decisive second-half surge. The Turkish club controlled the tempo from the opening minutes, absorbed a brief Roma push in the third quarter, and then pulled away with efficient offense and disciplined defense down the stretch.

The 15-point margin was built on more than just hot shooting. Turk Telekom shared the ball well, won the rebounding battle, and forced Maxima Roma into contested shots throughout the evening. It was the kind of complete team win that can set the tone for a EuroCup campaign, especially in front of a lively home crowd.

Match Overview

Turk Telekom set the early tone with a 24-18 first-quarter advantage. The hosts moved the ball crisply against Roma’s switching defense, finding open shooters on the perimeter and attacking closeouts with purpose. By halftime, the lead had grown to 47-38, with Turk Telekom’s bench providing important minutes and keeping the defensive intensity high.

Maxima Roma briefly threatened in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to single digits behind a run of transition baskets and second-chance points. But Turk Telekom answered immediately, closing the period on a strong run to take a 70-58 lead into the final ten minutes. From there, the home side managed the game expertly, converting free throws and limiting Roma’s clean looks from beyond the arc.

• First quarter: Turk Telekom 24-18
• Second quarter: Turk Telekom 47-38 (halftime)
• Third quarter: Turk Telekom 70-58
• Final score: Turk Telekom 92-77

Key Moments

The game’s most important stretch came late in the third quarter. After Maxima Roma trimmed the lead to 58-54, Turk Telekom responded with a 12-2 run that shifted the momentum for good. The sequence featured a pair of three-pointers, a fast-break dunk, and a crucial offensive rebound that led to free throws. Roma never recovered fully, and Turk Telekom’s lead remained in double digits for the entire fourth quarter.

Another key moment arrived early in the fourth when the hosts forced three consecutive empty possessions from Roma. Turk Telekom turned those stops into points at the other end, pushing the advantage past 15 and effectively sealing the result. The defensive communication and rebounding discipline in that stretch were exactly what the coaching staff wanted to see.

Tactical Story

Turk Telekom’s defensive game plan centered on disrupting Maxima Roma’s pick-and-roll rhythm. The hosts used aggressive hedging and timely switching to keep Roma’s guards out of the paint, forcing them into contested mid-range jumpers and deep three-point attempts. When Roma did penetrate, Turk Telekom’s big men rotated well and contested at the rim without fouling.

Offensively, Turk Telekom played inside-out. The team established an early post presence, which opened up driving lanes and catch-and-shoot opportunities on the perimeter. The hosts finished with five players in double figures, a testament to their unselfish play and ball movement. Maxima Roma, by contrast, relied heavily on isolation basketball and struggled to generate consistent secondary offense when its primary scorers were slowed.

Standout Players

Turk Telekom’s backcourt set the tone on both ends. The starting guards combined for 34 points and 11 assists, repeatedly breaking down Roma’s defense and finding open teammates. On the wing, Turk Telekom got a strong two-way performance with timely three-point shooting and active hands in passing lanes. Inside, the frontcourt controlled the glass, finishing with a double-digit rebounding advantage and altering several shots at the rim.

For Maxima Roma, the leading scorer finished with 20 points, but much of that came in the first half. The Italian side’s frontcourt battled on the boards and provided some second-chance opportunities, yet Roma’s offense never found a reliable third option. A late flurry made the final score slightly closer than the game felt for most of the second half.

Season Impact

The win gives Turk Telekom an important early confidence boost in EuroCup Basketball. A 92-77 home victory protects their home court and provides a strong points-differential cushion that could matter in group-stage tiebreakers. It also reinforces the team’s identity as a disciplined, balanced side capable of controlling games on both ends.

For Maxima Roma, the loss is a reminder of how difficult EuroCup road games can be. The Italian club showed flashes of quality, especially during its third-quarter run, but will need more consistent half-court execution and better defensive rebound
