CR Belouizdad Edge JS El Biar 3-2 in Algerian Ligue 1 Thriller

CR Belouizdad secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over JS El Biar in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 on Monday night, winning a five-goal contest that swung one way and then the other. The away side’s experience and clinical finishing proved decisive in the end, but JS El Biar pushed them all the way in a match that had everything: early goals, a comeback, and a late winner.

The result strengthens CR Belouizdad’s position among the league’s leading clubs, while JS El Biar are left to rue a spirited performance that ultimately yielded no points. The match was played at a high tempo from the first whistle, with both teams committed to attacking football.

Match Overview

CR Belouizdad started the stronger and took the lead in the 12th minute through a composed finish from their striker after a flowing team move. JS El Biar responded well, pressing higher and creating chances of their own, and they equalised in the 28th minute with a powerful header from a corner. The home crowd erupted, but their joy was short-lived.

Just before half-time, CR Belouizdad regained the lead with a penalty converted confidently by their captain. The second half saw JS El Biar push forward in search of another equaliser, and they got their reward in the 67th minute when a quick counter-attack was finished off with a low drive into the bottom corner. The game looked destined for a draw, but CR Belouizdad had other ideas. In the 88th minute, a defence-splitting pass released their forward, who rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home the winner.

Tactical Story

CR Belouizdad lined up with a compact 4-2-3-1, looking to control the midfield and release their pacey forwards in behind. Their two holding midfielders shielded the back four effectively for long periods, and their ability to switch play quickly caused JS El Biar problems. However, Belouizdad’s defence looked vulnerable from set-pieces, which is how JS El Biar scored their first goal.

JS El Biar adopted a high-pressing approach, often forcing Belouizdad into rushed clearances. Their energy in midfield was impressive, but they left gaps between the lines, which Belouizdad exploited for the late winner. The home side’s full-backs pushed high, and that adventurous approach ultimately cost them on the counter-attack.

Standout Players

CR Belouizdad’s striker was the difference-maker, scoring the opening goal and providing the assist for the 88th-minute winner. His movement and link-up play were excellent throughout. The Belouizdad captain also deserves credit for a composed penalty and a commanding performance in midfield.

For JS El Biar, the left winger was a constant threat, scoring the second goal and causing problems with his direct running. The centre-back who scored the header was dominant in the air and made several important clearances, but he will be disappointed with how easily Belouizdad carved through the defence for the decisive goal.

Season Impact

With three points, CR Belouizdad keep pace with the leading pack in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 and send a clear message about their title ambitions. JS El Biar remain in a difficult position, but their performance showed they can compete with the league’s best. They will need to convert more of their chances if they are to climb away from the lower reaches of the table. The defeat is a painful one, but the character shown will give the coaching staff something to build on.
