AS FAR Rabat Edge Wydad Temara 1-0 in Botola Pro

AS FAR Rabat secured a narrow but deserved 1-0 win over Wydad Temara in the Botola Pro on October 9, 2026, with a second-half goal separating the sides after a tense tactical contest in Rabat. The result adds three important points to AS FAR’s campaign and leaves Wydad Temara wondering how to turn resilient away performances into positive results.

Match Overview

AS FAR Rabat started as the more assertive team, moving the ball quickly through midfield and looking to stretch Wydad Temara with width. The visitors, meanwhile, defended in a deep, compact shape and tried to spring counterattacks through their front two. For long spells, the game followed that pattern: AS FAR probing, Wydad Temara blocking, and the home crowd growing louder with every passing minute.

The breakthrough arrived in the 63rd minute. A patient move down the right ended with a low cross into the penalty area, and Hamza El Kettani arrived ahead of his marker to guide the ball into the net from close range. It was the kind of poacher’s finish that rewarded AS FAR’s persistence and punished Wydad Temara for a rare lapse in concentration.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: AS FAR’s first clear chance, a curling effort from the edge of the box, forced a smart save low to the goalkeeper’s right.
• 34th minute: Wydad Temara’s best moment of the first half came on the counter, but the final shot was dragged wide.
• 63rd minute: Hamza El Kettani scored the only goal, turning in a cross from the right after a well-worked build-up.
• 78th minute: AS FAR goalkeeper produced a crucial stop with his legs to deny Wydad Temara an equalizer.
• 90+3rd minute: Wydad Temara pushed bodies forward, but AS FAR’s defense cleared the final delivery to seal the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

AS FAR Rabat’s 4-2-3-1 shape gave them control in midfield, but Wydad Temara’s low block made central progression difficult. The hosts therefore relied on overlapping full-backs and quick switches of play to create overloads. Once the goal arrived, AS FAR managed the game maturely, dropping their midfield line slightly and protecting the lead rather than chasing a second.

Standout Players

Hamza El Kettani will take the headlines for the winning goal, but AS FAR’s goalkeeper was equally important, making a decisive save in the closing stages. In defense, the center-back pairing dealt well with Wydad Temara’s direct counterattacks. For Wydad Temara, the holding midfielder worked tirelessly, though the team lacked enough quality in the final third.

Botola Pro Standings Impact

The victory strengthens AS FAR Rabat’s position in the top half of the Botola Pro table and keeps them in touch with the leading pack. Wydad Temara remain in a difficult stretch and will need to convert defensive solidity into points soon. With the season moving forward, this result could prove significant for both ends of the standings.
