Aserri FC and Guadalupe FC served up a five-goal thriller in the Costa Rica 2.Liga on October 5, 2026, with Guadalupe FC leaving with a 3-2 away victory. The visitors combined sharp counter-attacking with clinical finishing, surviving a determined second-half comeback from Aserri to claim all three points.

Match Overview

Guadalupe started brightly and took control of midfield early, pressing Aserri's build-up and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. Aserri grew into the game after the half-hour mark, using width to stretch Guadalupe's back four, but the visitors remained dangerous whenever they won the ball back.

Key Moments

Guadalupe opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Mauricio Vargas latched onto a through ball and finished calmly past the goalkeeper. Vargas doubled the lead in the 39th minute, converting from the edge of the box after a short corner. Aserri responded before halftime, with José Pablo Solís heading in from a left-wing cross to make it 2-1.

Early in the second half, Aserri equalized through Luis Diego Cordero, whose low drive from 20 yards found the bottom corner. The momentum seemed to be with the home side, but Guadalupe regained the lead in the 77th minute. Kevin Quesada broke free on the right and drilled a shot across the goalkeeper to make it 3-2. Aserri pressed for a late equalizer, but Guadalupe's defence held firm through five minutes of stoppage time.

Tactical Story

Guadalupe's 4-3-3 was built for quick transitions, and their front three consistently attacked the space behind Aserri's full-backs. Aserri enjoyed more possession and created chances through crosses, but they were vulnerable to counters. The decisive tactical battle was in midfield, where Guadalupe's pressing limited Aserri's rhythm in the final 15 minutes.
