Reading got their pre‑season preparations off to a winning start with a 2–1 victory over Farnborough Town at Cherrywood Road. The League One side showed superior quality, especially in the second half, to overcome a tough Farnborough outfit.

How the Match Unfolded

Farnborough took a surprise lead in the first half, capitalizing on a defensive mix‑up. A long ball forward was not cleared, allowing a Farnborough forward to nip in and score. Reading responded well and equalized before the break through a sharp finish from inside the area following a neat passing move.

The second half saw Reading dominate possession. The winning goal came on 74 minutes when a cross from the left was met by a header that looped over the Farnborough goalkeeper. The hosts pushed for an equalizer, but Reading’s defence held firm.
