Match Overview

From the first whistle, Sweden imposed their will on the game, pressing high and moving the ball with precision. The goals came thick and fast, with four inside the opening 20 minutes. By half-time, the score was 6-0, and the only question was how many more Sweden would add. They added four more in the second half, with the pick of the bunch a stunning 30-yard strike.

Tactical Story

Sweden lined up in a 4-3-3 with attacking full-backs, essentially playing with six attackers. Lithuania tried to defend deep with a 5-4-1, but they were overwhelmed by Sweden's movement and quick passing. The Swedes constantly switched play from flank to flank, stretching the Lithuanian defence until gaps appeared. The midfield trio dominated possession, allowing the forwards to focus on breaking the offside trap. It was a relentless, professional performance.

Standout Players

The Swedish captain led by example, scoring twice and providing two assists. The young winger on the right was a constant menace, completing numerous dribbles and setting up several goals. The centre-back pairing were barely troubled but maintained concentration to keep a clean sheet. For Lithuania, the goalkeeper was peppered with shots and made several saves despite the scoreline; her defenders were simply outclassed.

Qualification Impact

This win strengthens Sweden's position at the top of their qualifying group, moving them closer to securing a place at the World Cup. The ten-goal margin significantly boosts their goal difference, which could be crucial in the final standings. Lithuania remain without a point and face an uphill struggle to qualify. Sweden's next fixture will be against a stronger opponent, but on this form, they will fear no one.
