CD Motagua secured a hard-fought 1-2 away victory against Platense in the Honduran Primera Division on September 18, 2025, continuing their strong start to the Clausura campaign. This result demonstrated Motagua's championship pedigree by grinding out three points on a difficult away trip. Platense opened the scoring against the run of play, capitalizing on a defensive error to take a surprise lead. Motagua responded before halftime with a well-taken equalizer, settling their nerves. The second half was a tense battle, with the winning goal coming from a moment of individual brilliance from Motagua's star forward, who curled a shot into the top corner. A key incident was a disallowed goal for Platense for a foul in the buildup, which sparked protests from the home team. The win kept Motagua at the top end of the league table, while Platense was left to rue missed opportunities. The Motagua manager praised his team's mentality, and the Platense coach felt his side deserved at least a point. Both starting XIs showed their intent to attack, leading to an open and entertaining match.
