Vis Pesaro suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Grosseto in a thrilling Italian Serie C encounter at the Stadio Tonino Benelli on Friday night. The five-goal spectacle saw Grosseto race into a two-goal lead, withstand a late comeback, and ultimately claim all three points in a match that had everything.

Match Overview

Grosseto were the sharper side from the first whistle and took the lead in the 14th minute through a precise low drive. They doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark, capitalising on a defensive mix-up. Vis Pesaro pulled one back shortly after the restart, but Grosseto restored their two-goal cushion with a stunning 25-yard strike in the 78th minute. The home side refused to lie down, scoring a second in the 90th minute, but time ran out as Grosseto held on for a valuable away win.

Key Moments

• 14' – Grosseto take the lead with a crisp finish from the edge of the box.
• 32' – A defensive error allows Grosseto to double their lead.
• 51' – Vis Pesaro halve the deficit with a powerful header from a cross.

Tactical Story

Grosseto adopted a counter-attacking 4-2-3-1 formation, sitting deep and springing forward with pace. Their two wide players caused constant problems, and Vis Pesaro's high defensive line was repeatedly exposed. The home side dominated possession but struggled to break down a disciplined Grosseto defence. Vis Pesaro's coach made attacking substitutions in the second half, which sparked the comeback, but the damage had already been done. Grosseto's game management in the closing stages was exemplary.

Standout Players

Grosseto's striker scored a brace and was a constant menace, while their attacking midfielder provided two assists and the goal of the night. For Vis Pesaro, winger Matteo Ricci was their brightest spark, scoring once and causing havoc down the left flank. However, defensive lapses cost the home side dearly.

Season Impact

Grosseto move up the Serie C table with this win, strengthening their playoff ambitions. Vis Pesaro, meanwhile, miss the chance to climb into the top half and remain dangerously close to the relegation playout zone. The defeat highlights the need for defensive reinforcements if they are to turn their season around.
