Jadran Dekani edged past NK Dren Vrhnika 1-0 in a tightly contested Slovenia 2.Liga match on October 10, 2026. A second-half goal from Alen Škof was enough to separate the sides at the Dekani Sports Complex, in a game that was low on clear-cut chances but high on tactical discipline.

Match Overview

Both teams cancelled each other out for long periods, with midfield battles dominating. Dekani, playing at home, had slightly more possession but struggled to break down a stubborn Dren Vrhnika defense. The visitors looked dangerous on the counter but lacked a finishing touch. The solitary goal came against the run of play in some respects, but Dekani's persistence paid off. The win moves them up to mid-table, while Dren Vrhnika remain in the bottom half.

Key Moments

• 28' – Dren Vrhnika's best chance: a header from a corner flashes wide.
• 45' – Dekani's first shot on target, a low drive from distance, saved comfortably.
• 72' – Alen Škof scores the winner, latching onto a loose ball in the box and firing home.
• 85' – Dren Vrhnika push men forward but a last-ditch tackle denies them an equalizer.
• 90+3' – Dekani almost double the lead on the break, but the shot hits the post.

Tactical Analysis

Dekani set up in a 4-3-3, looking to use width, but Dren Vrhnika's compact 4-4-2 made it difficult to find space. The home side's midfield trio worked hard to win second balls, and their patience was rewarded when Škof pounced on a defensive error. Dren Vrhnika defended deep and tried to hit on the break, but their transition play was too slow. The introduction of fresh legs up front for Dekani in the 65th minute changed the game's momentum.

Standout Performers

Alen Škof was the match-winner, his sharp movement and clinical finish proving decisive. Dekani's goalkeeper Rok Vodopivec made two important saves to preserve the clean sheet. For Dren Vrhnika, center-back Matic Zupan was solid, making several interceptions, but his team couldn't find an equalizer.

Season Impact

Jadran Dekani climb to seventh place with this win, giving them a platform to push for a top-half finish. NK Dren Vrhnika stay 14th, just above the relegation zone, and will be concerned about their lack of goals. The defeat extends their winless run to four matches. Both teams will look to improve in their next outings.
