Team Info

CD Lugo is a Spanish football club based in the Galician city of Lugo, currently competing in the Primera División RFEF, the third tier of Spanish football. The club was founded in 1953 and plays its home matches at the Anxo Carro Stadium. They are famously known as *Os Albivermellos* (The White-and-Reds) due to their vertical striped kit. CD Lugo's history has been largely spent in the Segunda División and the lower tiers, with their golden era occurring in the 2010s when they enjoyed a continuous seven-season stint in the second division from 2012 to 2019. That period, under coaches like Quique Setién and Luis César Sampedro, saw the team play an attractive, possession-based style that belied their modest budget, regularly finishing in comfortable mid-table positions and becoming a respected opponent. Their modern chapter sees them rebuilding in the RFEF Primera after relegation, with the aim of returning to the professional Segunda División. The club enjoys a deeply loyal local fanbase that fills the Anxo Carro, creating a vibrant and supportive environment. CD Lugo remains a proud symbol of Galician footballing spirit outside of the region's two giants.
