Team Info

Northeast United FC is a professional football club based in Guwahati, Assam, that competes in the Indian Super League (ISL). The team represents the entire northeastern region of India, playing their home matches at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. Founded in 2014, the club's orange and purple colors reflect the vibrant sunrises and cultural richness of the region, with actor John Abraham being a prominent co-owner. As one of the original ISL franchises, Northeast United was formed to give a voice to the football-crazy northeast. The club's peak era so far was the 2019-20 ISL season under coach Robert Jarni, where they finished third in the league stage, showcasing a spirited and attacking brand of football. In recent seasons, the team has undergone rebuilding phases, aiming to recapture that playoff-contending form with a mix of Indian talent and strategic foreign signings. The Highlanders, as they are nicknamed, boast one of the most passionate fanbases in the ISL, known for their incredible vocal support. Northeast United carries the hopes of a region with a deep love for the beautiful game.
