Team Info

UD Melilla is a football club from the autonomous city of Melilla, a Spanish exclave in North Africa, currently competing in the Segunda División RFEF, the fourth tier of Spanish football. The team plays at the Estadio Municipal Álvarez Claro, a stadium with a unique cross-continental atmosphere. Founded in 1976, the club wears green and white and is a point of sporting pride for the city. The club was established to give Melilla a representative in the national leagues and has navigated the lower divisions, with its history including a famous Copa del Rey campaign. A key era saw them achieve promotion to Segunda División B (the old third tier), marking their highest level. In the modern RFEF structure, they aim to be competitive in Group 5, often leveraging a squad mix of local players and mainland Spaniards. The fan base is passionate and unique, supporting the only Spanish fourth-tier club from Africa. UD Melilla is a fascinating and resilient outpost of Spanish football.
