Team Info

Young Africans Sports Club, universally known as Yanga, is the most popular and successful football club in Tanzania, based in Dar es Salaam. They are the eternal rivals of Simba SC and compete at the summit of the Tanzanian Premier League. Their massive home matches are held at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Founded in 1935 by young community members, the name 'Young Africans' reflects the youthful energy and national pride of its founders. The club's history is a story of intense rivalry and trophy accumulation. A key era was the late 1990s and early 2000s, where they enjoyed domestic dominance. However, their modern era has been spectacular, winning multiple league titles under professional management and making significant impacts in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, reaching the latter's final in 2022. The current squad features a blend of Tanzanian stars and shrewd foreign signings. The team culture is defined by the incredible passion of the 'Yanga Mates', a fanbase that creates a sea of green and yellow and an unforgettable atmosphere. Young Africans is more than a club; it is a national phenomenon.
