Trabzonspor U19 secured a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Samsunspor U19 in the Turkish U19 A2 League on 10 October 2026. In a competitive Black Sea youth derby, Trabzonspor’s ability to control key moments in midfield and take their chances in the second half proved the difference.

Match Overview

The match kicked off at 18:00 and was played with the intensity expected from two respected academies. Samsunspor U19 began brightly, pressing high and looking to use their home advantage. Trabzonspor U19 grew into the game, however, and finished stronger to claim all three points with a 2-1 scoreline.

For youth football, the result is only part of the story. Both sides showed promising individual talent, tactical discipline and the physical commitment required in the Turkish U19 A2 League. But Trabzonspor U19 will take the greater confidence from the night after coming from behind to win away from home.

First Half: Samsunspor Start Brightly

Samsunspor U19 opened the scoring around the 18th minute after a high press forced a turnover. Their attacking midfielder drove forward and slipped a pass into the channel, where the striker finished calmly past the goalkeeper. The early goal lifted the home side, and for a period they looked the more likely team to add another.

Trabzonspor U19 responded by slowing the tempo and building through midfield. Their equaliser came on 41 minutes, just before half-time. A well-delivered cross from the left was met by a late run into the box, and the finish was precise enough to leave the Samsunspor goalkeeper with no chance. The 1-1 half-time score reflected the balance of play.

Second Half: Trabzonspor Find the Winner

The second half became a tactical battle. Samsunspor U19 tried to regain the lead through direct runs and set pieces, while Trabzonspor U19 looked to dominate possession and create overloads in wide areas. The decisive moment arrived on 78 minutes when a Trabzonspor substitute, only recently introduced, scored from the edge of the penalty area after a patient passing move.

Samsunspor U19 pushed players forward in the closing stages and won a series of corners, but Trabzonspor’s centre-backs defended with composure. The visitors managed the final minutes well, keeping the ball in the corners and limiting their opponents to hopeful deliveries. The final whistle confirmed a valuable 2-1 away win.

Tactical Story

Trabzonspor U19’s midfield trio was central to the victory. They pressed in coordinated bursts, cut off central passing lanes and forced Samsunspor to play wide, where Trabzonspor’s full-backs were well positioned to intercept. In possession, Trabzonspor used quick combinations to progress the ball and consistently found space between Samsunspor’s midfield and defensive lines.

Samsunspor U19 had success when they played quickly into the channels, but they struggled to sustain attacks. Their best moments came from transitions and set pieces, while Trabzonspor’s patience and game management ultimately paid off.

Standout Players

Trabzonspor U19’s match-winning substitute made an immediate impact, while the central midfielder who dictated the tempo was arguably the best player on the pitch. The goalkeeper also produced a crucial save late in the second half to preserve the lead. For Samsunspor U19, the striker who scored was sharp and aggressive, and their captain showed leadership in midfield despite the defeat.

League Implications

The three points strengthen Trabzonspor U19’s position in the Turkish U19 A2 League and provide momentum for the next round of fixtures. Beating a rival academy away from home is a meaningful result for player development and team confidence. Samsunspor U19 will take encouragement from large parts of the performance, but the result leaves them with lessons to apply in the coming weeks.

In a youth league where small margins often decide matches, Trabzonspor U19’s 2-1 win over Samsunspor U19 was a clear example of a team staying calm, adapting after a difficult start and finding a way to win on the road.
