Xerez Deportivo FC 2-2 CD San Roque de Lepe: Points Shared in Andalusian Battle

Xerez Deportivo FC and CD San Roque de Lepe played out a 2-2 draw in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on October 12, 2026, in a match that delivered drama, momentum swings, and a late equaliser. Both sides had chances to win it, but a share of the points was a fair reflection of an evenly contested Andalusian derby.

Match Overview

Xerez Deportivo started the stronger side and took the lead inside the first 20 minutes, only for San Roque de Lepe to equalise before half-time. The home team restored their advantage early in the second half, but San Roque responded again, scoring a late equaliser to claim a valuable away point. The result leaves both teams with plenty to build on as the season progresses.

The match was played with intensity and no shortage of physical duels, typical of the Tercera División RFEF. Xerez will feel they should have held on for the win, while San Roque will be pleased with their resilience and fighting spirit.

Key Moments

• 18’ – Xerez Deportivo 1-0: A well-placed shot from the edge of the box gave the home side the lead after a spell of sustained pressure.
• 42’ – Xerez Deportivo 1-1: San Roque equalised with a header from a deep cross, catching the defence flat-footed.
• 56’ – Xerez Deportivo 2-1: Xerez regained the lead through a quick break, finished calmly one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
• 88’ – Xerez Deportivo 2-2: San Roque’s late equaliser came from a corner, scrambled home from close range to silence the home crowd.

Tactical Story

Xerez Deportivo used a 4-3-3 and tried to dominate through midfield, using their wingers to stretch San Roque’s back four. They created the better chances in the first hour, but their inability to kill the game left the door open. San Roque de Lepe set up in a 4-4-2 and focused on defensive solidity, looking to attack through set pieces and crosses.

The visitors’ persistence paid off late on. They pushed more players forward in the final ten minutes, won a series of corners, and finally converted one. Xerez will be disappointed with their game management, as they dropped two points after leading twice.

Standout Players

Xerez’s attacking midfielder was the best player on the pitch for long spells, creating chances and scoring the opening goal. Their striker also impressed with his movement and took his goal well. For San Roque de Lepe, the centre-back was a rock defensively and also scored the late equaliser, while their goalkeeper made important saves to keep the deficit manageable.

League Impact

The draw keeps both teams in the middle of the Tercera División RFEF standings, with Xerez Deportivo still in touch with the promotion playoff spots and San Roque de Lepe building momentum. The dropped points could prove costly for Xerez if they miss out on a top-four finish by a narrow margin, while San Roque will take confidence from twice coming from behind away from home.
