Quezon, Zamboanga notch convincing MPBL victories

The Quezon Huskers and Zamboanga SiKat turned in commanding performances on Tuesday, registering comfortable wins in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season at the Navotas Convention Center.

Quezon remained in the hunt for the South Division lead after completing an 86-73 wire-to-wire victory over the Bataan Risers to improve to 12-2, staying just behind Batangas (13-2) in the standings.

The Huskers established control early by building a 13-point advantage and never allowed Bataan to threaten the rest of the way. Jolo Manansala earned Best Player of the Game honors with 15 points, highlighted by two three-pointers, along with five rebounds.

Cedric Manzano recorded a double-double of 14 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists, while Christian Pagaran added 13 points and six rebounds. Joshua Yerro also finished in double figures with 11 points and three assists.

Bataan fell to 6-11 despite balanced scoring from Alfred Flores, who had 13 points and four rebounds; Yves Sazon, who contributed 12 points and five boards; and Robbi Darang and Joshua Yerro, who each finished with 11 points.

In the second game, Zamboanga SiKat rolled past Sarangani 10ACT, 104-77, to improve its record to 6-10.

Levi Hernandez paced the victors with 21 points, knocking down five three-pointers. Jun Arthur Calisay added 19 points and two steals, while Forthsky Padrigao flirted with a triple-double after tallying nine points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.

Reggz Gabat chipped in 12 points, four assists, and three rebounds, while Jayson Puray contributed 11 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Sarangani dropped to 3-15 despite Alex Desoyo's 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds. Ralph Tansingco finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists, while Paul Sanga and Leland Estacio added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The MPBL resumes Wednesday at the Pasay Astrodome, where Parañaque faces Negros at 4 p.m., Quezon City battles Manila at 6 p.m., and Pasay takes on Bulacan at 8 p.m.
